The only problem with the bubble cursor concept is how do you select nothing? For example, what if I'm drag-dropping and instead of selecting a target I want to drop it onto the background. Useful ideas but maybe only useful for a selection mode rather than all the time.
I would assume that there would be some confirmation to select ... a variant of double click. One subtle obtion might be 1 finger vs. 2 fingers next to each other
